The study reveals that sectors heavily reliant on AI are experiencing slower employment growth, and Ireland, in particular, is more vulnerable to these changes compared to other advanced economies.
"Ireland may be among the first countries where the effects become measurable," the Department warns.
And this is the part most people miss: the impact is already visible in job advertisements. Recruitment giant Indeed's data shows a significant jump in AI-related job postings, rising from 4% in November 2023 to a whopping 11% today. This trend is three times higher than both the EU and US averages.
Ireland's AI talent concentration ranks fifth globally, according to the report.
Minister for Finance Simon Harris acknowledges the resilience of the Irish labor market but emphasizes the need for adaptation:
"We must ensure that workers and firms are equipped to adapt to this profound technological change. Investing in skills, supporting lifelong learning, and providing enterprise supports to adopt new technologies are crucial steps forward."
